Sewage
Enforcement Officer's Page
Every
municipality in Pennsylvania with on-lot sewage disposal systems
must have
a sewage enforcement officer. Ours is Steve McKeon.
He is a licensed PA sewage enforcement officer and Profession Engineer in
Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware and Vermont.
Steve can be reached at the township office on Tuesdays from 9:00am to 12 noon
at (717) 235-3011.
At other times, you can reach him at his home office at (717) 382-4915.
He is available at these time to answer questions regarding on-lot septic
systems
including issuance of permits for system installation.

As a sewage enforcement officer, Steve performs
inspections of existing septic systems for real-estate transfers, which
are required by the township's
ordinance. He also evaluates sites for new sewage drain fields by performing
soil pit evaluation and percolation test. For new parcels of land being
created in areas where no municipal sewage exists, he determines if the
site is large enough and has suitable soil for an on-lot septic disposal
system. Reserve or back-up areas are now required and have to remain
undisturbed so that they can provide an alternate site should the primary
site fail.
